Inverter / Charger Kits
The primary function of the inverter in your solar power system is to produce 120V AC power from a 12V DC battery bank. More sophisticated inverters will come with the option for a built-in DC charger for your 12V battery system when you are plugged into shore power or running from your onboard generator, allowing your trailer or RV to run off-grid. This feature serves to replace your existing on-board converter with superior battery charging set-points. Other RV solar inverter and charger kit systems may have an option for a pass-through AC function, or automatic transfer, that enables shore power (or a generator) to bypass the inverter when you’re “plugged in.” The most advanced inverters have a hybrid function that enables current to be drawn from shore power and a battery bank at the same time. This is a great feature running large appliances like air conditioners from a low current shore power source. Of course, the price point changes with the addition of these options.
Which Inverter/Charger is Right for Me?
When selecting an inverter for your system consider the following:
Wattage:
300W or less - Computers, Lights, Cell Phones
2000W or more - Refrigerators, Microwaves, Blenders
2800W or more - Air conditioners, Laundry Machines
Waveform:
Modified Sine - No moving parts, e.g. lights, cell phones, computers
Pure Sine - Moving parts like refrigerator compressors or audio equipment
Frequency:
50hz - European and Asian appliances
60hz - American appliances (AM Solar only stocks 60hz inverters)
RV Solar Inverter/Charger Kits
Inverter Only (needs kit) - This is just the Inverter/Charger. It does not include the remote panel, Digital Multi Control, MK3-USB Interface, cables, disconnects, lugs, heat shrink or any of the components needed to incorporate it into a functioning system. You would only buy this if you already had all the other components. Technical Support for Inverter Only purchases will mainly consist of a recommendation to buy a kit.
RV Upgrade Kit - This is a kit that includes all the components commonly needed to install the Inverter/Charger into an RV that already has a main panel and shore power connection. The SPS is currently out of stock but should be available spring 2021. Sign up to be on the SPS waitlist.
RV Upgrade 50A Kit - This is a kit that includes all the components commonly needed to install the Multiplus 3000VA into an RV that already has a 50A main panel and shore power connection. This kit includes a Smart Phase Selector (SPS) that allows a single inverter to power both sides of a 50A main panel. The SPS is currently out of stock but we are working on version three! Sign up to be on the SPS waitlist.
Empty Shell Kit - This is like the RV Upgrade Kit, but it is designed for vehicles like van conversions or skoolies that do not have any existing wiring. This kit includes the main panel and a shore power connection.

Note: Some Keurig coffee makers are known to be incompatible with inverters. In some cases, this will just result in a loud buzzing noise while operating, and in other cases, it will result in inverter overload and failure to operate. This doesn't mean your inverter will be damaged or that trying to use your coffee maker is dangerous; however, AM Solar cannot support compatibility issues resulting from a Keurig coffee maker. We recommend doing some research and purchasing a different coffee maker if you find yours to be incompatible with your inverter system.

RV Chargers, Kits, & Accessories
These smart charger devices charge batteries from a shore power connection. These items & kits are ideal for van conversions and skoolies that do not have a pre-existing main panel, inlet or shore power cord, or for replacing existing chargers or converters in a lithium upgrade.
The Blue Smart Charger is a professional-grade battery charger with built-in Bluetooth. The Blue Smart Charger can be used on devices in your workshop and on motor vehicles, such as cars; motorbikes; boats and camper-vans.
Kit option for the 30A IP22 includes wiring, breaker, and lugs for a hardwired solution.

These kits allow 15A/30A/50A shore power passthrough to a dedicated AC distribution box. The 30A kit is expandable to 4 more AC circuits, the 50A kit is expandable to 16 more AC circuits. Inverter/Charger Remotes
This panel is intended both for Multiplus and Quattro inverter'/chargers. It allows PowerControl and PowerAssist current limit setting for two AC sources: a generator and shore side current for example.

The Cerbo GX and Touch 50/70 provide intuitive control and monitoring for all products connected to it. The list of Victron products that can be connected is endless: Inverters, Multis, Quattros, SmartSolar Controllers, BMV-700 series, SmartShunt, Skylla-i, Lynx Ion and even more. This kit is not a battery monitor, but it does talk to battery monitors.
Victron GX Touch 50/70 Screen comes with USB and HDMI cables hardwired with a length of 79”.
The Color Control GX provides intuitive control and monitoring for all products connected to it. The list of Victron products that can be connected is endless: Inverters, Multis, Quattros, MPPT 150/70, BMV-600 series, BMV-700 series, Skylla-i, Lynx Ion and even more. This kit is not a battery monitor, but it does talk to battery monitors.
The VE.Bus Smart dongle is two products in one:
First of all it is the Bluetooth accessory for Victron’s range of inverter/chargers: Multiplus-I, MultiPlus-II, Quattros, and range extension of Phoenix Inverters with a VE.Bus port. When installed, use the VictronConnect App to monitor operation and also operate the system: change the input current limit as well as switch between Off, On and Charger-only modes.
Secondly it can work as a Voltage- and Temperature-sense device for the inverter/charger. This works with all models.
For monitoring, the device is a great alternative in caravans, smaller yachts and motor homes for which the Color Control GX or Cerbo GX are a step too far.
Please note that the MultiPlus or Quattro must be updated to the latest firmware in order to utilize the dongle.

For use with generators with an ‘open neutral or floating neutral’. Some generators have a ‘floating neutral’. This might cause the Power Watchdog EPO surge protectors or any other EMS surge protector to give you an ‘open ground’ or ‘open neutral’ error code and prevent power from going into your RV. To correct this issue, simply plug this item into an unused 15A AC receptacle on the generator. This should create a neutral to ground bond and the condition should be resolved.
Easy start kits are typically installed on air conditioning units where the start-up surge might overwhelm an inverter. This kit also comes in a recommended Bluetooth version that allows for diagnostic feedback. Please note that the Bluetooth module does NOT allow you to control your AC unit.

Magnum Accessories
The BMK works in conjunction with a Magnum inverter to give a remote display battery monitoring capability.
The BMK needs this wire harness to supply its power from the house battery bank.
